Perry's Steakhouse sells two Friday lunch plates for 79 cents

Perry's Steakhouse is offering two Friday lunch items for 79 cents today, a Flashback Friday deal that honors the chain's 1979 founding.

USA TODAY reported that Perry's Steakhouse & Grille is running the one-day promotion on Friday, Oct. 2, for dine-in guests who get in line early.

Customers can pick the Pork Chop Friday Lunch or the Caramelized Prime Rib Steak Sandwich. Each goes for 79 cents. The catch is simple: only the first 200 guests at each participating location get in on it.

That breaks down to 100 special cards for each dish. No card, no deal. The chain says the giveaway is first-come, first-served while supplies last.

A Perry's news release put it this way:

"Cards will be distributed on a first-come, first-served basis while quantities of each remain,"

Seventy-nine cents points back to 1979

The price is not random. Perry's started in 1979, and the 79-cent tag is a direct nod to that year. The promotion has run in prior years, usually with the pork chop alone. This year the chain added the caramelized prime rib steak sandwich for the first time.

Regular prices make the discount plain. The Pork Chop Friday Lunch usually runs about $24. On the dinner menu, that same chop lands near $49 to $50. The caramelized prime rib steak sandwich normally costs about $29.

So diners who clear the line are looking at a plate that ordinarily costs twenty-plus dollars, for less than a buck.

Dine-in only, and not every door is open

The offer is dine-in only. Most Perry's locations across the country are in the mix, with the heaviest cluster in Texas. The Friendswoods, Texas, spot is the one exclusion called out in the reporting.

Guests must be 21 or older. Lunch service for the Friday specials generally runs from 10:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. ET at most sites. Past versions of the deal have drawn long lines, so the early crowd is the one that eats.

That is the whole play: show up, get a card, and pay 1979 prices on a 2026 steakhouse lunch, if you are one of the first 200 through the door.

When a restaurant still knows how to reward the customer who bothers to show up on time, that is a small win worth keeping.
