Marshalls is opening in a shuttered Tractor Supply spot in Nacogdoches, Texas, next to Hobby Lobby, giving the East Texas town a new off-price retail option locals already cheered online.
The Sun reported that Marshalls, the TJ Maxx sister chain, confirmed a new store in Nacogdoches on the former Tractor Supply Company site beside a Hobby Lobby.
A store representative said the grand opening is scheduled for October 29. Construction on the project finished this week.
The build covers 22,827 square feet and cost roughly $1.4 million. Records on the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation website show the project was registered last October.
Online commenters did not hide their interest. One wrote, “Wow! That is great news for this little town!!” and added, “Wish they would have had one when I was in school there.”
Another posted, “Can’t wait. FINALLY!!!”
Marshalls has opened other stores this year. TJ Maxx has rolled out additional sister locations as well, including a Sierra store in San Antonio last month.
Tractor Supply, for its part, still plans to open 100 new stores this year even as this Nacogdoches site turns over to Marshalls.
Empty retail boxes do not stay dark for long when customers still want a place to spend. That is the market doing what planners and press releases rarely manage on their own.
