Donatella Versace joins Revolve to launch new fashion and beauty venture targeting young shoppers

Donatella Versace is stepping back into the spotlight with a new role as chief creative officer of a fashion and beauty venture built with online retailer Revolve, a bet that her name still moves product with the next generation.

Revolve Group announced the partnership on Monday, calling it a new business aimed squarely at young consumers. Versace, 71, will lead the creative side of the operation, while Revolve supplies the digital infrastructure, logistics, and global reach that have fueled its recent growth. The venture has no public name yet and no launch date. The companies said more details would come in the months ahead, CNBC reported.

The announcement lands roughly eighteen months after Versace stepped down as creative director of the luxury fashion house that bears her family name. She held that post for nearly three decades. Now she is pairing with a publicly traded retailer known less for runway prestige than for influencer-driven online sales and splashy celebrity tie-ups.

Versace says the venture gives her "freedom" to reach a new audience

In a press release distributed through PR Newswire, Versace framed the move as a chance to connect with younger consumers on her own terms. She said:

"I have always been inspired by the next generation, in music, film, art and, of course, fashion. This partnership gives me the freedom to speak to that generation in a completely new and personal way, through beauty and fashion."

Mike Karanikolas, co-founder and co-CEO of Revolve Group, pitched the deal as a long-term play rather than a quick licensing grab. He said in the same release:

"By combining Donatella's creative authority with REVOLVE's technology, infrastructure and global reach, we have an opportunity to create something genuinely distinctive, and build it for the long term."

Neither statement addressed the financial structure of the venture, how ownership is divided, or what product categories will launch first. Those are details the market will want before treating this as anything more than a press release.

Revolve's celebrity playbook keeps expanding

Revolve has been stacking high-profile partnerships for more than a year. Rapper Cardi B launched a campaign with the retailer in April 2025. Social media influencer Sofia Richie Grainge went further, creating her own fashion brand called "SRG" with Revolve last October.

The Versace deal is the most prominent name yet. It signals that Revolve, which trades on the Nasdaq under the ticker RVLV, wants to move beyond influencer collaborations and into territory closer to brand-building, using a designer whose career spans the highest tier of European luxury fashion.

The company's recent financials back up the confidence. This past August, Revolve posted its third consecutive quarter of double-digit net sales growth. Net sales hit $347 million, up 12 percent year over year. That kind of momentum gives management room to swing at bigger deals.

Big questions remain unanswered

For all the polish of the announcement, the gaps are wide. No product details. No brand name. No timeline. No word on whether this is a fifty-fifty joint venture, a licensing arrangement, or something else entirely. Investors and industry watchers will need those answers before they can judge whether this partnership is built to last or built to generate headlines.

Versace's departure from her family's fashion house in March 2025 was itself a major shift in the luxury world. Attaching her name to a mid-market digital retailer is a different kind of gamble, one that trades the exclusivity of high fashion for the volume and speed of online commerce.

Whether that trade pays off depends on execution, not press releases. In a market flooded with celebrity brands and influencer labels, the only thing that separates a real business from a vanity project is whether customers actually buy.
