Costco is stocking ketchup potato sticks made with beef tallow instead of seed oils, a throwback snack shoppers are tying to old diner fries and childhood crunch.
Parade reported that the warehouse club is carrying Norse Roots Beef Tallow Ketchup Potato Sticks under item number 2071994.
In a Costco warehouse featured on video, an 18-ounce bag sold for $7.79. Prices can vary by location. Each bag breaks into 18 one-ounce servings at 150 calories per serving.
The draw is the fat. The sticks are made with beef tallow rather than seed oils, and seasoned with ketchup flavor. That pairing lands close to the shoestring fries once common at old-fashioned burger joints.
TikTok account @retailhotfinds_ spotted the bags on Oct. 7 and called them “a super crispy snack.” Parade’s lifestyle article followed on Oct. 9, 2026, framing the find as pure childhood nostalgia.
Costco is not first in line on tallow. Steak ‘n Shake switched its fries to beef tallow in early 2025. The fast-food chain bet customers would taste the difference and come back for it.
Norse Roots is now putting a bagged version of that idea on warehouse shelves: thin potato sticks, ketchup seasoning, and animal fat instead of the usual industrial oils.
Shoppers who grew up on diner shoestring fries know the target flavor. Crisp. Salty-sweet. Grease that tastes like a griddle, not a lab. The Costco bag aims at that memory without a booth or a tip jar.
Availability still looks uneven. Parade tied the $7.79 price to the warehouse shown in the TikTok, not to every club in the chain. Anyone hunting the item should check local stock and the item number before making a special trip.
What the label fight really shows is simple. A major retailer is selling a mass-market snack that advertises beef tallow on the front of the trend. Seed-oil defaults no longer own every aisle by default.
Real fat and familiar flavor are back on the shelf, and shoppers are finding them next to the bulk pretzels.
