Chick-fil-A is set to replace the CAK Café at Ohio’s Akron-Canton Airport as managers expand food choices for a growing passenger base.
The Sun reported that construction is underway at the airport in Green, Ohio. The restaurant is expected to open in early November. An exact opening date was not listed.
The new Chick-fil-A will replace the CAK Café, which sits beyond the airport security checkpoint. The change gives ticketed travelers another familiar dining choice inside the terminal.
Airport officials described the project as part of their effort to improve dining for passengers. Lisa Dalpiaz, vice president of air service and business development, welcomed the Chick-fil-A addition.
Dalpiaz said:
“Our two brands have a shared commitment to delivering a delightful experience for our guests, and we’re proud to bring such a well-loved dining option to CAK.”
The opening also involves United Concessions Group, which is investing alongside Akron-Canton Airport. Executive Vice President Spencer Shaw tied that work to increased passenger traffic.
“As passenger traffic continues to grow, we’re excited to invest alongside the airport to deliver an exceptional guest experience.”
The airport is also renovating its Great Lakes Brewery location, The Sun reported. Café Express, The Observation Deck and Akron Coffee Roasters are due to receive updated menus at some point.
No completion date was given for the brewery renovation. The planned menu changes were not detailed, and operating hours for the new Chick-fil-A remain unstated.
Shaw called Chick-fil-A an important milestone within a longer effort to add dining, retail and convenience options. For travelers, the immediate change is simple: a known restaurant will replace the existing café after construction ends.
Private investment that gives customers more choice is a welcome change, especially when managers stay focused on service and follow through on the promised opening.
