Apple crosses $5 trillion market value again as second firm to hit the mark

Apple’s market value climbed back above $5 trillion on Wednesday, making the iPhone maker only the second company ever to clear that rare Wall Street threshold.

Shares of Apple rose more than 1% in Wednesday trading as the company’s market capitalization once again pushed past the $5 trillion line, Yahoo Finance reported.

By early afternoon, Apple stock traded near $343, up about half a percent on the session, with the broader move putting the Cupertino giant back in exclusive company. The firm first brushed the $5 trillion threshold in late July and had already topped $4 trillion in October 2025.

The rebound arrives a little more than a month after a major leadership handoff. Tim Cook stepped down as chief executive on Sept. 1. John Ternus took the job.

iPhone demand and a new CEO put Apple back on top

Apple’s stock is up roughly 26% year to date and nearly 40% over the past 12 months. That run did not come from slogans. It came from products people keep buying.

Strong iPhone sales throughout 2026, tied to a renewed upgrade cycle, helped power the valuation climb. The company has also kept shipping updates to its Apple Intelligence platform, including a Siri AI feature that remains in beta.

Apple partnered with Google to use some of Google’s AI models as it races rivals that Wall Street routinely measures it against, including Microsoft and Google. Private-sector competition, not a government industrial plan, is what is driving the product race.

New hardware keeps the pipeline full

A day before Cook left the top job, Apple debuted HomeView, its smart home hub. People viewed the device during a smart-home product launch in New York City on Oct. 13, 2026. Amazon and Google still dominate that category. Apple is trying to break in with hardware of its own.

Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman has reported that Apple is preparing to launch its first touch-screen MacBook and revamped iPads later this month. The company has also pointed to an iPhone Duo foldable priced at $1,999.

At the same time, Apple has been raising prices on iPhones, iPads, and Macs amid a memory and storage shortage. That squeeze has raised fears of a sales hit even as the stock market rewards the company’s scale and brand strength.

A milestone built on sales, not slogans

Market cap is a simple scoreboard. Take the share price and multiply by shares outstanding. When that number clears $5 trillion, investors are saying the business can keep generating cash at a massive scale.

Apple first crossed $4 trillion in October 2025. It touched $5 trillion in late July. It fell back, then reclaimed the line on Wednesday, Oct. 14, 2026. Few firms ever see those altitudes. Apple is now one of only two that have.

The timing matters for another reason. The reclaim came under Ternus, not as a farewell gift to Cook. Leadership changed on Sept. 1. The valuation story did not stall.

American companies still mint world-beating value when they ship products customers want and answer to markets instead of central planners. Apple’s return above $5 trillion is the scoreboard saying exactly that.
