Wayfair plans second New Jersey store with large Cherry Hill location

Wayfair plans an 86,000-square-foot store in Cherry Hill as its second New Jersey location, giving South Jersey shoppers another place to browse home goods by late 2028.

CBS News Philadelphia reported that the Boston-based e-commerce company announced the Cherry Hill plans on Wednesday.

The large-format store is set for Market Place at Garden State Park. It will be Wayfair’s 11th location and its second in the Garden State.

Shoppers will get an on-site design studio where they can work with consultants. The company said the store will let customers explore its home assortment and move between physical stores and digital channels.

Princeton comes first, then Cherry Hill

Wayfair already staked out its first New Jersey site in Princeton. That announcement came in June. The Princeton store is scheduled to open in 2027.

Cherry Hill is next in line. The company expects the South Jersey location to open in late 2028.

Wayfair framed the Cherry Hill project as a way to bring “every style, every home” to people living near the South Jersey area. The retailer also said the store will “give customers another way to explore their home assortment and shop across their stores and digital channels.”

No company executives were named in the announcement. No full street address beyond Market Place at Garden State Park was listed. The report also left the precise month inside “late 2028” unspecified.

A bigger physical bet in New Jersey

The sequence is straightforward. Princeton was announced first and is slated for 2027. Cherry Hill followed on Wednesday and is aimed at late 2028. Together they give Wayfair two large-format footholds in New Jersey after building its name online from Boston.

At 86,000 square feet, the Cherry Hill store is a major retail box, not a pop-up. The design studio is part of the draw, customers can get help in person instead of guessing from a screen.

Market Place at Garden State Park puts the store in a known Cherry Hill retail setting in Camden County. For South Jersey residents who already buy furniture and home goods online, it adds a place to see the merchandise and work with staff before they purchase.

Wayfair’s pitch is simple: more access to the same assortment, in a store and online. The company is pairing a 2027 Princeton opening with a late-2028 Cherry Hill opening and calling both part of that plan.

Brick-and-mortar still matters when a major online retailer puts real square footage on the ground and lets customers walk the floor.
