Marshalls set to open at former Tractor Supply site in Nacogdoches

Marshalls will open a new store in Nacogdoches, Texas, inside a former Tractor Supply location next to Hobby Lobby, giving the East Texas town a fresh retail option locals already welcome.

A store representative confirmed the grand opening is scheduled for October 29, The Sun reported.

The off-price retailer is moving into the old Tractor Supply Company space. Construction on the project finished this week.

For a smaller Texas city, a national chain backfilling empty retail space is practical news. Shoppers get another place to stretch a dollar. The site does not sit empty.

Project ran about $1.4 million

Records tied to the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation show the project was registered last October.

The build covers 22,827 square feet and cost roughly $1.4 million. Work wrapped this week ahead of the late-October opening.

Marshalls sits in the same family as TJ Maxx. The company has opened other stores this year. A Sierra location, another sister brand, opened in San Antonio last month.

Tractor Supply is not standing still either. The farm-and-ranch chain plans to open 100 new stores this year, even as this Nacogdoches site turns over to Marshalls.

Locals already sound ready

Online commenters treated the arrival like overdue good news for the town.

One shopper wrote:

"Wow! That is great news for this little town!!"

The same commenter added:

"Wish they would have had one when I was in school there."

Another kept it simple:

"Can’t wait. FINALLY!!!"

That reaction fits. When a recognizable retailer takes a vacant box next to Hobby Lobby, people notice. They want convenient prices and full shelves without a long drive.

Marshalls and its sister brands compete on value. They move discounted brand-name goods. In a year of tight household budgets, that model still draws foot traffic in towns of every size.

Nacogdoches now gets a concrete date: October 29. The square footage is finished. The old Tractor Supply footprint gets a second life under a different banner.

Empty storefronts help no one. A working retailer on a busy pad does. Private investment filled the space, set a calendar, and gave local customers a reason to show up, no subsidy speech required.
